I help people

harness their strengths

and m

ake a difference that matters.

Communities and organizations are hungry for people who want to make a difference.

While folks with leadership titles are well-positioned to have an impact, everyday people at all levels are being called on - and are feeling called - to step up and make change that matters.

This purpose-driven work isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible. As a leadership coach and trainer since 2005, and in doing research interviews for my book Be the Change(maker), I have learned what successful changemakers have in common, and I have shared their wisdom with audiences around the world.

Kara’s in the business of helping people make a difference that matters

Ten years ago she embarked on an informal research project to discover what successful changemakers have in common. She published a book with her findings in Fall 2020.

She's been public speaking since elementary school, has been teaching classes and facilitating workshops since the 1990s, and has been a leadership coach since 2005. Sharing what she's learned about changemakers mindsets is her latest service offering.

“I highly recommend Kara Exner to any organization seeking to inspire an audience now and into the future. Kara has been delivering a keynote presentation for my program since 2013. She effortlessly combines warmth, generosity and passion with a highly engaging style. Kara has a way of being that consistently demonstrates positivity, acknowledging both the participants and their ideas, ensuring people feel valued and inspired. In summary, Kara is an experienced, gifted and accomplished coach who generously shares her knowledge with the world.

Keys to Navigating Uncertainty: Think Like a Changemaker

The pandemic plunged all of us into a canyon of uncertainty. Now that we’re re-emerging into our ‘next normal’ the uncertainty persists. Leaders at all levels are faced with new and changing circumstances, and are expected to be successful - and lead their people to success - no matter the situation.

Based on research interviews with nearly 50 successful changemakers, this inspiring presentation shares the unexpected places we rarely look to better navigate our uncertain world. Leaders and aspiring changemakers will walk away with five steps to level up their confidence for leading effectively and having the impact they most want.

Powerful Listening: The Missing Link in Your Leadership

Most of us have learned and been rewarded for speaking confidently and having the right answers. But other humans - the ones we lead, sell to, and support - want to be heard. How well are you listening to them? How do you know?

After years working with corporate groups and teams, it’s clear that good listening is overlooked and underrated as a key leadership skill. This interactive presentation provides a simple model that clarifies the complexities in powerful listening. Participants will walk away with a tool to easily gauge how well they’re listening, and get back on track to be present and powerful in the moment.

Being a force for good can be grueling,

but you’re not alone.

“One of Kara’s many superpowers is her natural ability to establish authentic and meaningful relationships with her clients. She listens attentively, empowers you to think creatively, and will truly partner with you throughout each stage of your coaching experience. ViTreo’s culture was transformed (more than once) as we collectively learned together and greatly benefited from Kara’s extensive knowledge and expertise as a coach. I would highly recommend Kara’s services and look forward to the opportunity where our paths collide again.”
